Protocol Books and Backboards
Protocol books and backboards are available through our office. If your agency needs extra protocol books or backboards, please e-mail Paula at paula@ocmca.org to place your order. As always, the most current copy of our protocols is available to our members electronically on our website, which can be located under the members tab on the homepage. Agency Run Form Reviews In February, 2007 our QI department began reviewing one month of each agency’s run forms. The purpose of this process is to regularly assess quality assurance processes performed by pre-hospital care EMS personnel and agencies. The reviews thus far have recognized discrepancies, as well as successes. It is no doubt that our providers are sophisticated, hard working, and dedicated to EMS. Thank you to all the agencies that have participated in the review process. Your cooperation has been appreciated and we are proud of the excellent service you provide. We are looking forward to giving our providers an aggregated county report. State Data Reporting System The MI-EMSIS data collection system is currently being beta tested in Oakland County. It is our goal to provide OCMCA agencies with the smoothest transition possible into the MI-EMSIS data collection system. The website for the web-based system can be found at: www.mi-emsis.org. Thank you to those agencies that are participating in the beta testing process. It is because of your cooperation and efforts this beta test has become a success. EMS Acknowledgements In March, 2007 we began an EMS Acknowledgement program. Hospitals and agencies were given forms that would enable them to quickly out and recognize a responder(s) for their achievements. The response to our office has been excellent. EMS Provider of the Year On May 22, 2008 the OCMCA awarded our first annual EMS Provider of the Year award to Mr. Cary Thompson of Royal Oak Fire Department. Mr. Thompson received this award because of his outstanding commitment and service to the community, as well as his dedication to EMS. Mr. Thompson was selected because he is a true leader in EMS. He is a firefighter/paramedic that has worked for the Royal Oak Fire Department for 10 years. There were several impeccable applicants for this award making it difficult to choose just one person. It is an honor to recognize Mr. Thompson. Congratulations Cary Thompson, OCMCA EMS Provider of the Year 2008! “Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them”.
