2011 Protocol Updates-New Update
*ALL PROTOCOLS HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY MDCH AND ARE NOW AVAILABLE UNDER THE PROTOCOLS SECTION.
As you know, protocol deviations do occur on occasion, but must have direction of online medical control and be well documented on your run form.
As always, it is the goal of the OCMCA to work closely with each agency to ensure that we provide the highest quality of pre-hospital emergency care to our patients. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the OCMCA office.
Protocol Book and Backboards
Pocket Protocol Books Available Fall 2011
Backboards are available through our office. If your agency needs extra backboards, please e-mail Paula at paula@ocmca.org to place your order.
The Protocol book is currently only being offered electronically due to recent development of the State Model Protocols. As always, the most current copy of our protocols is available to our members electronically on our website, which can be located under the members tab on the homepage.
iPhone/iPad Users~New Update
Recently, the OCMCA has been working with software developers to make our Protocols available via the iPhone and the Droid applications. We are very excited to inform you that our Protocol Manual is now available through the iTunes App Store. The version for Droid is currently in progress and not yet available for download. I will notify you when this is available.
How do you get this Application if you or your employees are iPhone users?
1. Log-in to your iTunes account
2. Click on iTunes Store
3. Click on App Store
4. In the search bar type Paramedic Protocol Provider (this is the name of the application)

6. Sync your iPhone with iTunes
7. Run the Paramedic Protocol Provider Application from your iPhone
8. Click Add Protocol

Now if your agency is in multiple MCA's you can add as many Protocols as you like at no additional charge. Please share this information with any iPhone users in your organization.

State Data Reporting System
The MI-EMSIS data collection system has been rolled-out in Oakland County. It is our goal to provide OCMCA agencies with the smoothest transition possible into the MI-EMSIS data collection system. The web site for the web-based system can be found at: www.mi-emsis.org.
Data Elements
Required Data Elements for the OCMCA will be concurrent with the NHTSA Version 2.2.1 Dataset. To export into MI-EMSIS data system, it will be required that your agency submit all data that is consider “gold-compliant” data. This will ensure that the OCMCA will have access to a clear, understandable, and complete patient care record. If you are unaware of what it means to be “gold-compliant” you can learn more at: http://www.nemsis.org/index.html
EMS Acknowledgements
In March, 2007 we began an EMS Acknowledgement program. Hospitals and agencies were given forms that would enable them to quickly out and recognize a responder(s) for their achievements. The response to our office has been excellent. It has been our pleasure to recognize the following individuals for excellence in achievement:
