History
The Oakland County Medical Control Authority began operations in 1995 as a Michigan non-profit corporation.
The OCMCA was founded by the hospitals of Oakland County, in partnership with EMS agencies and the county of Oakland. In 2008, 14 hospitals are part of the organization and 48 EMS agencies belong to the OCMCA; 39 fire-based agencies, and nine private agencies.
In 1995, the OCMCA began with just seven ALS agencies, whereas today there are 28 ALS agencies.
Mission Statement
The Oakland County Medial Control Authority exists to ensure a progressive coordinated system delivering quality prehospital emergency care, while providing a state of comprehensive readiness with an interface to neighboring systems.
